The experience
The Colosseum reveals a different character below ground. With a licensed guide arranged by our concierge, you enter the hypogeum, the network of corridors, lifts and holding rooms beneath the arena, then stand on the reconstructed arena floor to look up at the tiers as spectators once did. The visit continues through the Roman Forum and up the Palatine Hill, where emperors built their palaces above the valley. Underground and arena access is sold in limited, timed slots by the archaeological park, so availability is confirmed at booking. Expect uneven ground, stairs and plenty of walking, rewarded by some of the finest views of ancient Rome.
