What to know about Rome

  • The historic centre of Rome has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1980.
  • Our residences stand by the Trevi Fountain, Piazza di Spagna, the Quirinale and Via Veneto; in Borgo and in Prati, near the Vatican; and in Esquilino, San Giovanni, Appio Latino and Salario.
  • The historic centre is a limited traffic zone: without a permit, cars may not enter from 06:30 to 18:00 on weekdays or from 14:00 to 18:00 on Saturdays, except on public holidays, nor from 23:00 to 03:00 on Friday and Saturday nights, except in August.
  • The city charges a tourist tax for each guest and night, from €5 to €7 in apartments, guest houses and B&Bs according to their category, for up to 10 nights; children under 10 are exempt.

Getting to Rome

  • From Fiumicino, the Leonardo Express reaches Roma Termini non-stop in 32 minutes, every 15 minutes for most of the day; a ticket costs €14.
  • Licensed taxis charge a flat fare, supplements included, to any address inside the Aurelian Walls: €55 from Fiumicino, €40 from Ciampino.
  • From Ciampino, the Ciampino Airlink bus reaches Ciampino station in about 10 minutes, and the train continues to Roma Termini: €2.70 in all.

How do I get from Fiumicino airport to the centre of Rome?
By the Leonardo Express, non-stop to Roma Termini in 32 minutes for €14, or by licensed taxi at the flat fare of €55 to any address inside the Aurelian Walls.
Can I drive into the historic centre?
